Double Dutch International (DDI) has acquired worldwide sales rights to director Gil Junger’s family film Think Like a Dog, the Andrew Lazar (American Sniper) production set for filming this fall. The title will be introduced to buyers at the Toronto International Film Festival later this week.
The acquisition was announced by Jason Moring, DDI’s CEO. The project, currently casting, reunites Lazar with his 10 Things I Hate About You director Junger.
“It’s great to see Andrew and Gil team up again for Think Like a Dog,” Moring said. “There is no doubt with their pedigree they will deliver a highly commercial family movie with broad universal appeal.”
Think Like a Dog is the story of 12-year-old tech prodigy Oliver, whose science experiment goes awry and creates a telepathic connection between the boy and his dog. The duo join forces to comically overcome complications of family and school.
The film, written by Junger, is planned to be the first of three movies produced by M Star International in its “Dog’s Best Friend” franchise. Lazar produced the family picture Cats & Dogs.
Cory Chen from M Star International and Stanley Preschutti from DDI are executive producers on Think Like a Dog.
DDI’s A Quiet Passion, directed by Terence Davies and starring Cynthia Nixon, will have its North American premiere on Monday September 12 in the TIFF’s Masters section.
