ITV is set to air a new weeknight entertainment series in the UK in 2017, with comedian and writer David Walliams hosting the first week. The 30-minute daily entertainment show, dubbed The Nightly Show, will go out in the 10 PM slot. It’s being produced by Second Act Productions and will air five nights a week for an eight-week run, featuring a different big name host each week. The show, which will be recorded live at 6 PM at a central London location, will feature a mixture of topical monologue, studio games and celebrity guests and experts. Katie Taylor and Lee Hupfield exec produce. It was commissioned by ITV Head of Comedy Entertainment Peter Davey.
London’s iconic Serpentine Gallery is set to be transformed into a cinema to host a series of cult feature films and artists’ shorts. New York-based artist Lucy Raven will turn the gallery into an intimate space for a series of film nights, programmed by Raven and produced in collaboration with on-demand video service MUBI. Each night’s screenings will be introduced by leading film theorists, artists and writers. The event kicks off on December 13 with Phil Kaufman’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Limbo, a short by Jim Henson and Raymond Scott, and Max Fleischer’s Minnie the Moocher. Further screenings in the series include Who Framed Roger Rabbit, La Region Centrale, Groundhog Day and Brian De Palma’s Blow Out. Shorts will range from Marcel Duchamp’s Anemic Cinema to Deborah Stratman’s Hacked Circuit.
