The 30 year-old rap star took to Twitter to inform his 1.25 million followers of his frustrations with Glassnote Records.
Childish Gambino, a.k.a Donald McKinley Glover, has received a fair amount of success in his rap career, including topping Billboard Rap Albums chart when releasing ‘Because The Internet’ last year.
But the 30 year-old isn’t very happy with his current record label, Glassnote Records.
On Monday morning (April 14th), Gambino dropped the new music video for his latest single ‘Sweatpants’ and soon after, he took to Twitter to express his frustration with the label.
“So this sweatpants video and blog was important to us,” he tweeted, referring to the new music video and his Deep Web Tour blog. “And it wasn’t handled correctly.”
The ‘Bonfire’ rapper didn’t specify on his current issue with Glassnote, but he did continue to publically slam them on the social media site.
“We were told a lot of things were gonna happen and they were all lies. So I’m done. Someone buy me out of this contract,” he posted, later adding, “A lot of people came around after our first week sales. All those people are welcome now. Def Jam, Atlantic, whatever.”
Gambino has released two albums with the label, the first coming in his 2011 debut ‘Camp, and ‘Because the Internet’, which was released last December (2013).
Altogether, he has sold 500,000 copies with Glassnote, but it appears this issue is not over sales figures.
“I don’t like record companies. But I’m not having another project go through this,” he continued to tweet. “I said ‘I know how the internet works tho’ my record company laughed on the phone and said ‘oh really?'”

Hopefully the label and the rapper can work things out very soon, as Gambino finishes up several dates on his Deep Web Tour.
