Dick Wolf’s Chicago universe is not big enough, apparently—because there’s already a third Chicago Fire spinoff in the works at NBC. Yes, that means at some point in the future there could be four separate NBC Chicago shows all set in the same world.
The focus? Chicago Law. Creator Wolf confirmed the news—which E! News learned was a possibility while on set for the latest big three-show One Chicago crossover—on a panel for his three Chicago shows at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena, Calif.
It would be “short-sighted” not to think about expanding the world further, he said, especially after the crossover ratings were so high. The new show “would probably be in the legal system and you may see the same way you say in the last three years, some people doing legal things that would give an insight into where that could go.”

Read: The potential leads will likely be introduced on the existing Chicago shows. “Talk about your dreams being fulfilled,” Wolf said of the three shows’ success. “This is literally a dream come true—to have these three shows operating this synergistically is beyond my wildest expectations. My instinct is always to double down.”
Of course, there are still a few hurdles on the way to reality. “A lot of people have to agree, as always. In the abstract, sure that would be great,” he said, adding, “it’s a question of how that would operate and what form it would be, but there have been discussions.”
