Celebrities Rally Around Initiative That Provides Funding For Education

Some of Hollywood’s biggest stars are giving up their Friday night to raise money for schools.

On Friday evening, a star-studded cast will be participating in the Think It Up telecast, an event designed to raise money for education. The event will air on Fox, NBC, ABC and CBS at 8 p.m. EST.

Think It Up is an initiative of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, a charitable organization of the entertainment industry. The initiative aims to promote excitement for teaching and learning in America’s schools.

The telecast will be raising money for “student-powered, teacher-led projects” in collaboration with DonorsChoose.org, a site that crowdfunds classroom projects. The projects should “draw on [students’] passions and help pursue their educational goals,” according to the Think It Up website.

Celebrities like Justin Bieber, Kristen Bell, Jennifer Garner, Seth Meyers, Gwyneth Paltrow, Big Sean, Ryan Seacrest, Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert and Halle Berry are set to make appearances. Supporters of the event include Staples, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and ExxonMobil.

“The entire Think It Up show is about creating energy,” said Evan Prager, one of the telecast’s producers, in a statement. “We’ll have a large standing audience and our celebrity talent will be able to interact with the kids on the floor and create a genuine connection. Think It Up is an incredibly exciting initiative and with the help of all the celebrities that have agreed to participate, we are going to help make this one-hour special an incredible launch for this important movement.”
