The headliners have been announced for this year’s Wireless Festival, less than a day before tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday (March 11th). Calvin Harris, Chase & Status and American rap star J. Cole have been unveiled as the headliners of the Finsbury Park spectacular in London.
This year’s festival takes place from July 8th-11th, and tickets go on sale for the event at 9am on Friday morning at £59.50 for a day ticket. The annual festival is now in its 11th year, having started out as an indie-based day out but has now transformed into a showcased for pop, R&B and hip-hop.
Calvin Harris is headlining Wireless Festival 2016
Joining Calvin Harris on the Friday will be British rock act The 1975, currently celebrating having a Number 1 album on both sides of the Atlantic at the same time with their second effort, and R&B singer Miguel.
Saturday’s bill, co-headlined by drum ‘n’ bass duo Chase & Status and J. Cole, features some strong British talent, from London rap duo Krept & Konan whose single ‘Freak of the Week’ hit No.2 in the singles chart in 2015. Resurgent British singer Craig David also features, as does hot American rapper Future.

Sunday’s line-up is capped by Norwegian superstar DJ Kygo and a showcase by British grime collective Boy Better Know, whom Canadian rapper Drake joined onstage on the night of this year’s Brit Awards back in February.
Other performers will include British chart-topper Jess Glynne, DJ Martin Garrix, rap collective Section Boyz and critically-acclaimed American rapper Vince Staples.
American rapper J. Cole is the other Saturday headliner
Response to Thursday’s announcement has been quietly positive, with some bemoaning the relative lack of star quality in comparison to 2015’s festival. Last summer, heavyweight rappers Drake and Kendrick Lamar, two of the biggest names in hip-hop, headlined the first two days, with David Guetta and Nicki Minaj rounding off the Sunday.
