While the identity of the father of Bristol Palin‘s newborn daughter has not been revealed, her ex-fiancé Dakota Meyer has shared a new photo of the baby and is also doting on the little girl.
Meanwhile, her Sarah Palin, 51, says the child is the “best gift ever.”
Bristol, 25, welcomed her second child, Sailor Grace, on Dec. 23. She and Meyer, a 27-year-old U.S. Marine vet who received a 2009 Medal of Honor, called off their engagement in May. A month later, Bristol announced her pregnancy, adding that it was not an accident. Meyer did not comment at the time.
“Best Christmas present ever!!” he wrote on Twitter on Thursday, alongside a photo of baby Sailor resting on Bristol in her hospital bed. “I couldn’t be more proud of this little blessing.”

Baby Sailor joins big brother Tripp, who will turn 7 this weekend and whose father is another one of Bristol’s ex-fiancés, Levi Johnston, 25. Bristol’s pregnancy with her son at age 17 was a controversial issue that marred Sarah’s 2008 vice presidential campaign.
The former governor of Alaska penned a touching note to her daughter following Sailor’s birth.
“Oh, perfect love! The best gift ever!” Sarah wrote in a note posted on Bristol’s blog. “Thank you, Bristol, for your strength and good heart and your love of life. The most important people in Bristol’s life were there to witness the miracle of Sailor Grace Palin’s arrival last night.”
“Thank you for sharing the miracle with Piper, Marina, and me, Bri!” she said, referring to one of Bristol’s sisters and one of her friends. “And we thank Todd for taking care of the rest of the family during this most precious beginning of a great new chapter!”
Sarah and husband Todd Palin, 51, are also parents to sons Track, 26, and Trig, 7, and daughters Willow, 21, and Piper, 14.
