A day after getting that little bit closer to World Series glory, Dodgers’ fans must have been keeping a close eye on Game 1 of the American League Championship Series last night as the Cleveland Indians shut out the Toronto Blue Jays 2-0. Still that big primetime game on TBS barely dented CBS’s steady Friday winning line-up – or in fact almost anyone else on a fairly steady night.
As the season seems to find its equilibrium and there were no giant storms battering most of the Southeast last night, it was even Steven for both MacGyver (1.1/4) and Blue Bloods (1.2/5) among adults 18-49 with last week. After a couple weeks of downward movement for the reboot action series, that plateau for MacGyver will certainly generate more than a few high fives around CBS today.
In fact, only 9 PM’s Hawaii Five-O (1.2/5) will put any damper on the good times at the Eye – and, with a decline of a tenth from its October 7 show, that will be a small chill. If not for the fact that Blue Bloods delivered a solid win in another category on Friday. As has been the norm for many a Friday over many a season now, the Tom Selleck-led NYPD drama topped the night viewershipwise with 10.05 million.
Overall CBS won another Friday with a 1.2/5 rating and 8.90 million viewers – far ahead of second place ABC’s 1.0/4 and 4.65 million.
Matching Blue Bloods and MacGyver for the top rated show of the night, ABC’s Shark Tank (1.2/5) rose 9% in the demo over last week. That’s an 18-49 season high for the entrepreneurial reality show and, with a 2% uptick, a viewership season high too of 5.0 million. While Last Man Standing (1.0/5) was down a tenth from last week, Dr. Ken (0.9/4) held even with its October 7 show and rose 10% in viewers to hit a season high of its own with 4.3 million watching. At 10 PM, 20/20 (0.8/3) was also the same as last week.
If there was one exception to Friday’s fairly even keel it was NBC – for worse and better. The net’s Caught On Camera With Nick Cannon (0.6/3) was back on Friday for its third season, though it wasn’t a pretty picture. The acquired footage show was down 33% in the key demo from its Season 2 debut of January 22, also a Friday. On the flipside, the 9 – 11 PM Dateline (1.0/4) saw a 25% jump among the 18-49 and a 14% rise in viewers to 4.8 million over last week.
There was no such double-digit jump for Fox’s offerings last night. Actually, there was no movement at all for Hell’s Kitchen (1.0/4) or The Exorcist (0.7/3) in the demo, which could be a good thing of sorts for the possession reboot as it looks to find stability and an audience on the last night of the week.
The CW was all encores last night.
