After a low-resolution version of the first Avengers: Age Of Ultron trailer leaked today and caused a fanboy flurry online, Disney and Marvel reacted quickly by releasing the official version almost a week early. (Watch it above.)
The original plan was to debut the trailer next week during ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. next Tuesday night. When the leaked video started going viral, Marvel smartly opted to put its higher-quality version online, taking the crisis in stride with this tweet to its 1.9 million followers:
Adding to footage unveiled this summer at Comic-Con, the new trailer features somber looks at the Avengers in action; Iron Man in his Hulkbuster armor; new characters Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson); and new baddie Ultron, voiced with sinister aplomb by James Spader. The sequel to Disney/Marvel’s $ 1.5 billion-grossing The Avengers picks up as Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr) attempt to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program opens the door for the emergence of Ultron, who has terrible plans for humanity.
Avengers: Age Of Ultron hits theaters on May 1. Here’s the new poster:
