On Wednesday night’s episode of ‘The Late Late Show’, popular host James Corden posed one of life’s great existential questions: what happens to boy bands when they grow up? Time passes, glory and beauty fades, and they become dad bands.
The Brit joined forces with his guests Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson on the NBC chat show to form the ‘dad band’ equivalent of a supergroup: The Puff Daddies. Clad in hoodies and weighed down by fake babies in harnesses, the trio of proud parents grabbed mics and performed a spoof single, ‘I Am A Dad’.

Choice lyrics were: “I’m a dad, I don’t go to movies / I’m a dad, I don’t know that song / I’m a dad, my dance moves are goofy.” Other themes were sleep deprivation and the difficulties of playing animal noise games with infants, before they led the crowd in a sing-along of ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ to finish.

Masterson and Kutcher were on the show to promote their new comedy ‘The Ranch’, a Netflix original series in which they play brothers trying to run a business. Masterson has one daughter, Fianna, born in 2014, with his wife Bijou Phillips, while Kutcher’s partner Mila Kunis gave birth to their daughter Wyatt the same year.
Corden, who is a father to four year old son Max and two year old daughter Carey with his wife Julia, introduced the skit by announcing: “It’s no secret to anyone, everybody knows that I love boy bands.”
“I love them all. I love One Direction, the Jonas Brothers, Backstreet Boys and, of course, the greatest band of all time, O Town” to laughs from the audience, before continuing, “they don’t go away. They grow up and they start families and ultimately they become dads. And [then] they’re not boy bands, they’re dad bands.”
