Amy Schumer has criticised Glamour magazine for featuring her name in their new issue that focusses around ‘plus size women’ in the entertainment, modelling and music industries.
The American comedian and actress’s name is included on the front cover of the special edition of the magazine, alongside those of Adele and Melissa McCarthy, while model Ashley Graham adorned the cover itself in a red dress.
However, Schumer took exception to the way the issue was packaged, and said that Glamour had included her name on the front cover without her permission while putting her 2015 feature from the main magazine in the special issue.
“I think there’s nothing wrong with being plus size. Beautiful healthy women. Plus size is considered size 16 in America. I go between a size 6 and an 8. @glamourmag put me in their plus size only issue without asking or letting me know and it doesn’t feel right to me,” she wrote in an Instagram post on Tuesday (April 5th).
“Young girls seeing my body type thinking that is plus size? What are your thoughts? Mine are not cool glamour not glamourous.”

A spokesperson for Glamour reacted to Schumer’s criticism, saying that the publication’s intention was not to offend her. “First off, we love Amy, and our readers do too – which is why we featured her on the cover of Glamour last year. The cover line on this special edition – which is aimed at women size 12 and up – simply says ‘Women Who Inspire Us’, since we believe her passionate and vocal message of body positivity IS inspiring, as is the message of the many other women, of all sizes, featured. The edition did not describe her as plus-size. We are sorry if we offended her in any way.”

Last June, Schumer also addressed her body size at the Glamour’s own Women of the Year Awards. “I’m probably like 160 lbs. right now, and I can catch a d*** whenever I want. It’s not a problem. It’s not a problem,” she said. “I’m not going to apologize for who I am and I’m going to actually love the skin that I’m in. I’m not gonna be striving for some other version of myself.”
