Camila Cabello has slammed people who she believes are only friends with her when it suits them.
The 20-year-old musician has revealed she often finds herself in situations where people she considered to be friends don’t have her back, and admits she sometimes finds it ”hard” to deal with as she can’t always tell if someone will be supportive before she lets them into her life.
When asked by Elle magazine how to spoke a ”fake friend”, the ‘Crying in the Club’ singer said: ”I think the only way to know is time. I feel like there are instances and circumstances in your life that always change.
”You can think someone’s your friend, and it could be out of convenience, or there was something in it for them, or whatever. And a year later, something happens and you really need help, or all of a sudden they have to stand up for you, and it could be inconvenient for them or not benefit them. And they don’t have your back.
”And you’re like, ‘Ok, that friendship was circumstantial. You were only my friend when it was easy.’ What’s hard is you can’t tell from the beginning.”
Camila’s comments come after she recently bemoaned not being able to enjoy a ”normal social life experience” because of her hectic job.
She said: ”This isn’t a 9-to-5 job. It’s not like we clock in and then we’re out, like we’re living together. I don’t have a normal social life experience. Like, I’m not going to school and then going to parties after and meeting people.
”At the same time, I still need to live life. I’m human and I need to hug people, I need to laugh with people, I need to cry with people. Like, I need that part.”
