The film, in which Ellen Degeneres voices forgetful fish Dory, has returned to the number one spot, earning $3.78 million (£2.87 million) in ticket sales in its fourth week in British cinemas.
Finding Dory’s rise topples Warner Bros’ supervillain blockbuster Suicide Squad, which spent the previous two weeks on top. The DC Comics caper drops to second place with $3.36 million (£2.55 million) in box office earnings.
Ricky Gervais’ return to his role as bumbling The Office manager David Brent in David Brent: Life on the Road debuts in third with takings of $1.93 million (£1.46 million), while Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne and director Steven Spielberg’s The BFG round out the new top five.
