Peter Giannascoli has been named co-President of Domestic Marketing at Paramount Pictures and will run the department jointly with Rebecca Mall, who was hired last month from Google as part of a restructuring at the studio. Giannascoli will lead the creative marketing and advertising efforts across all platforms, while Mall is overseeing the digital and brand strategy, media and publicity.
As part of this realignment, Erik Counter, President of Worldwide Creative Marketing, will be leaving the company. That follows the transfer of Steve Siskind, President of Domestic Marketing, over to oversee home media marketing (globally) last month as well.
While Giannascoli will report to Paramount Vice Chairman Rob Moore, Mall reports to Megan Colligan, Paramount’s Worldwide President of Marketing and Distribution. Giannascoli will oversee all creative marketing efforts for the studio including creative content, digital creative and creative advertising, and the research teams will also report into him.
Giannascoli had been at Paramount for more than a decade, most recently as EVP Worldwide Marketing, Home Media. He had managed strategy and implementation of marketing campaigns for Paramount’s physical and digital releases worldwide and worked to refine the SuperTicket. He also helped to advance the studio’s efforts in VR and led Paramount’s partnership with Google on their new Jump camera system.
Previously, he held executive positions in the Creative Advertising group, where he was responsible for campaigns including films in the Transformers, Iron Man and Star Trek franchises.
