Gwen Stefani has said she felt ‘so embarrassed’ following her split from husband of 13 years, Gavin Rossdale. The 46-year-old has just released her third solo album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like and said that she credits the creative process for helping her get over the heartache.
Gwen Stefani felt ‘embarrassed’ over Gavin Rossdale split.
Speaking to CBS ‘Sunday Morning’ Stefani said her world “changed forever” when her marriage finally broke down. “At that time everything was like I had no skin, it was so raw,” Stefani said. “Nobody knew what was happening, and I had this big secret.

“During that time period, I felt like I was down all the way, like, you don’t go down lower than that. It was rock bottom. I was so embarrassed, you know what I mean?” But the singer soon realised she could try to turn that feeling into music, “then maybe just everything will be okay.”
But Stefani’s record label didn’t agree, initially telling her the new music was too personal for people to connect with. Stefani’s response was to go back into the studio and write her most personal song, ‘Used to Love You’, which changed the record label’s mind.
Since her split with Rossdale Stefani has found love again, with country singer Blake Shelton. The pair met while they were both judges on ‘The Voice’ and Shelton was also going through a break-up with his wife of four years, Miranda Lambert.
