Carter Oosterhouse is an expert when it comes to creating an amazing space, and today is was all about the kids.
The lifestyle guru and his actress wife Amy Smart joined forces for their non-profit organization Carter’s Kids, in partnership with Lowe’s Home Improvement, to build a new all-purpose athletic court at the Boys & Girls Club of East Los Angeles. The two celebs got to work this morning to help lay out the mixed-use play space for the children to enjoy.
Smart and friend, fellow actress Rachelle Lefevre, helped the Lowe’s team lay mats for the Club’s new volleyball court, and were even able to take a short break to help decorate the Christmas tree as well. Assembly member and supporter of the Club Jimmy Gomez, as well as Little Women: LA star Brittney Guzman, also showed up just in time to put the finishing touches on the colorful playground before helping cut the ribbon and unleashing the new space for the kids to start using immediately.
And, of course, they didn’t waste any time with that.
Young Hollywood gives back
“It is so exciting to be back in Los Angeles with this build,” Oosterhouse said in a statement. “Living here, it really hits close to home and the Boys & Girls Club of East Los Angeles is one of the oldest children’s non-profit organizations in the city—so it’s rich with history. And the timing couldn’t be more perfect with the holidays.”
Carter’s Kids is dedicated to creating and promoting awareness of fitness and self-esteem for America’s youth. Its purpose is to increase the activity level of kids by building and developing community parks and playgrounds in their neighborhoods. The kids then have the opportunity to take an active part in building up their community by using, sharing and caring for these public spaces.
The non-profit organization has built more than 50 play spaces throughout the United States since it launched, with their latest accomplishment today being the 28th space completed with their partnership with Lowe’s.
Carter Oosterhouse and Amy Smart aren’t the only celebs to get involved with charity. Watch above!
