Robin Thicke Admits To Being ‘Drunk And High’ In 2013 Interviews During ‘Blurred Lines’ Deposition

‘Blurred Lines’ singer Robin Thicke has said he was ‘high and drunk every time’ he did an interview in 2013. The singer made the revelation during videotaped depositions ahead of the ‘Blurred Lines’ plagiarism trail, which were obtained and published by The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday.

In one of the videos Thicke tells the attorney, ‘I was high and drunk every time I did an interview last year.’ In another he is asked “Were you drunk and on Vicodin when you did the Oprah show?'” To which he quickly replies “yes”.

“I didn’t do a single interview last year without being high on both,” Thicke continues. Then when asked if he considers himself an honest person Thicke says “no”. Later the star explained that when it comes to giving interviews he’ll say whatever, “When I give interviews, I tell whatever I want to say to help sell records,” he said.

The depositions were taken head of the plagiarism trial which ended in March this year when a jury decided that Thicke and collaborator Pharrell Williams had ‘ripped off’ Marvin Gaye’s track ‘Got To Give It Up’ for their 2013 hit.

The Hollywood Reporter also published excerpts from Williams’ videotaped deposition, where he appears contentious and repeats multiple times that he is uncomfortable. In one clip Williams is asked what cords are used in bluegrass songs. “I’m not here to teach you music,” Williams replies.

Later Willams goes on to say that he is able to read a musical notation, but is unable to write one. When then asked to name two musical notes and their duration, Williams answers, “I’m not comfortable with this” and adds, “I can’t answer you at this time.”

In another exchange he is asked “When you were creating ‘Blurred Lines,’ were you trying to pretend that you were Marvin Gaye?” To which Williams replies, ”At that particular time, no. But as I look back, I feel that feeling.”
