Perhaps there’s some hope in this family feud after all.
Oliver Hudson made plenty of headlines this past Father’s Day when he called out his estranged biological dad Bill Hudson on Instagram.
“Happy abandonment day…@KateHudson,” the actor captioned a childhood picture of himself with his estranged father and little sister Kate Hudson.
And while Bill later said that both Oliver and Kate are “no longer a part of my life,” there appears to be a little communication in this rocky relationship.
“I understood Oliver’s sense of humor and since then, there’s been some nice back and forth between Bill and Oliver and that’s nice to see,” Kurt Russell told E! News exclusively while promoting The Hateful Eight at San Diego’s Comic-Con. “You want people to enjoy life as much as they can.”

And about Oliver’s newsworthy Father’s Day post, Russell added, “We live in a world that if you say something or do something, it can be latched onto for 24 hours or 48 hours.”
Both Kate and Oliver have made it clear that they view Russell as their father-figure. In fact, just look back on any major birthday or Father’s Day and you’ll see the love between the group.
“Father’s Day happens to be my favorite holiday of the year,” Russell shared with E! News. “Getting nice messages from the kids makes me feel good.”

And while he spent this most recent holiday in New Orleans playing golf and shooting his upcoming movie Deepwater Horizon, Russell still received plenty of attention from his family.
“I got my texts,” he assured us. “I got my messages from my family.”
