EXCLUSIVE: Screen Media Films acquired worldwide rights to Alex Of Venice, the directing debut of Chris Messina. He stars in the film with Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Don Johnson, Derek Luke, and Katie Nehra. According to Screen Media president Suzanne Blach, the pic will be released via multiplatform early next year, after playing the Deauville, Napa Valley and Hollywood Film Festivals. Winstead plays a workaholic environmental attorney forced to reinvent herself after her husband (Messina) bails. Add an aging father who’s still an aspiring actor (Johnson), an eccentric sister (Nehra) and an extremely shy son (Sklar Gaertner), the lawyer is up against it but grows through adversity. Pic’s produced by Electric City Entertainment’s Jamie Patricof and Lynette Howell, executive produced by Samantha Housman and Louise Runge, and co-produced by Crystal Powell.
