Kicking off the fall season with a high-profile cover, Mia Wasikowska is featured on the front of ELLE Canada September 2014.
The “Jane Eyre” actress looks gorgeous in her photo spread, taken by Max Abadian, sporting clothes from lux labels such as Dior and Valentino.
Mia told Elle that once her career hit a certain point, she couldn’t seem to avoid shutterbugs, but these days they’re much less intrusive. “When Alice in Wonderland first came out, they were at the airports and stuff, but I think they just figured I’m pretty boring and left me alone. When I promote a big enough movie, they kind of show up to see if I’m going to stumble out of the cab or flash my underpants, and then they leave again. I think they always want to test the new young actresses….”
As for how she got into acting, Ms. Wasikowska shared, “I think all actors experience a certain amount of discomfort within themselves. I’m more comfortable in myself now, but as a teenager, I felt so much more secure in somebody else’s clothes than I did in my own. I got the chance to express all these emotions that otherwise were very difficult to express, like anger and rage and sadness.”
Additionally, Mia knew what she’d tell her 15-year-old self if she could- “I would just tell myself to be nicer to myself. I think everybody could probably do with being nicer to their younger selves. Adolescence is a profoundly lonely time for most people.”
