I was worried that my children would not be able to figure out the Launchpad. But they proved me wrong. They both have had music lessons in the past but this is a little different as its more of a Performance device than an instrument. By watching the many YouTube tutorial videos they were able to learn how to download arrangements and create some of their own unique items.

The “lite” software that comes with the device is good enough for basic use, but any serious use should look into the full Ableton or FruityLoops software.

If you scrolled down to see this review and what my words would say to make up your mind in buying this item, you did the right thing! This Launchpad is better than the original because it is an updated version and responds more quickly, etc..I recommend this item for users of Ableton Live, FL STUDIO, and Traktor!

I seem to run into a lot of people who get the idea that the launchpad has pads, and each time i have to let them know they are buttons. They do have a bit of velocity sensitivity to them but regardless you have to add a bit of actuation pressure to get the clip to launch. In my experience it has worked flawlessly the buttons are so smooth you can run your finger up and down them in rows or columns at a time.

The launchpad also maps with FL Studio now apart from Ableton, to launch clips and even play instruments although it isn’t the best experience to try to play piano with buttons. Included is a few stickers that you can put over the launchpad to transform it into an FL studio version rather than Ableton version.

The loops it comes with aren’t that great in my opinion, I’m pretty sure their main purpose was simply to teach you to launch your first clip.

Under every pad are 3 LEDs Green, Yellow, and Red. The green shines on it’s own, the yellow and the red LED shine together for the amber color and the red also works on it’s own for recording clips among other things.
