Batkid is Off to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Premiere Following Oscars Disappointment

Miles Scott, also known as Batkid, is going to rub shoulders with the stars after all. The 5-year-old cancer survivor, who was made famous by The Make a Wish Foundation’s audacious ‘Batkid’ stunt, will be attending the ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ premeire thanks to Andrew Garfield.

Spider-Man 2Is it Garfield? Is it Spider-Man 2? Who knows

The news comes after Scott’s routine with Garfield was pulled from the Oscars ceremony at late notice. “I don’t know if they ran out of time, or if there was something about the segment they didn’t like,” said the boy’s mother, Natalie Scott at the time.

“It got pulled so quickly that we didn’t have a lot of insight into what was going on. It is kind of a disappointment, but things happen. I know that’s how TV goes and how Hollywood is. We’re just not used to that; we’re from a really small town. We haven’t really heard anything [by way of a follow-up from the organisers]. We just tried to make the most of the trip, and just got home last night.”

Rumours abounded following Batkid’s unceremonious exit from proceedings, with multiple sources suggesting Spider-Man star Garfield had something to do with it. To make up for the disappointment, a Disneyland trip was quickly put together for the following Monday. Garfield drove to join the family and brought Miles a present.

“Andrew did the right thing for “Batkid” and anyone saying otherwise is flat out lying,’ said Robert Fowler, Garfield’s rep. Whoever’s fault it was, Batkid will be delighted with the outcome: a trip to Disneyland followed by a glitzy premiere to The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which hits U.S cinemas on May 2, but Scott will get to see it – after a walk down the red carpet of course – a week early on April 24.
