Carrie Underwood is the one to beat!
The CMT Music Awards nominations were announced Wednesday morning, with the 32-year-old singer leading the pack with five nods, including two for Video of the Year, two for Female Video of the Year and one for Collaborative Video of the Year for “Somethin’ Bad,” her smash duet with Miranda Lambert.
Lady Antebellum and Kenny Chesney earned four nominations each. Meanwhile, Aloe Blacc, John Legend, Katy Perry and Bob Seger scored their first CMT Music Awards nominations ever in the CMT Performance of the Year category.
The nominations were rolled out in a new way this year.
Lady Antebellum stopped by NBC’s Today to announce the contenders for Male Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year, while also performing their new single, “Long Stretch of Love.” Immediately afterward, Today.com posted the nominees in the Video of the Year category. Luke Bryan, Underwood and CMT also unveiled nominees in five additional categories via their social media channels.
From May 13 through June 8 at 10 a.m. ET, fans can cast their vote at CMT.com.
The show airs live from Nashville on June 10 at 8 p.m. ET.
Tickets go on sale May 16 at 11 a.m. CST.
