11 Sister Act Moments That Would Be Amazing in Shonda

Shonda, you’ve outdone yourself this time.

The latest casting rumor out of Shondaland brings us even more joy than the words “How to Get Away With Murder season two”—it seems the television powerhouse’s production company is developing a show based on a group of nuns. That’s right, nuns! From the Bronx!

The tentative plot has a group of Catholic nuns fighting the closure of their convent and attempting to keep long-lost secrets buried as they do so. (Because it wouldn’t be a Shonda Rhimes show without buried secrets, amirite?) Of course most of the show’s development is being kept top secret, but we couldn’t help drawing some of our own comparisons to perhaps the greatest onscreen representation of nun culture, Sister Act.

Yes, Sister Act (and its sequel) is the movie that never goes out of style. (Seriously, even that ridiculous 90s garb is coming back in), so it would be completely amazing if Shonda and her team culled a few tidbits from the flick. Below are 11 moments we wouldn’t mind seeing on the show.

All the life lessons they imparted on the youths, like how to get your attitude in check:

Or this, er, euphemism:

Or how the pre-meal prayer should go: “Bless us, oh Lord, for these Thy gifts which we are about to receive. And yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of no food, I will fear no hunger. We want you to give us this day, our daily bread. And to the republic for which it stands, and by the power invested in me, I pronounce us ready to eat. Amen.”

Or what the apostles real names are: “John, Paul, George and Ringo.”

All the amazing nun-style dance moves:

The time there were nuns doing double dutch:

Or anytime they used all the sass:

And who can forget the most jaw-dropping moment of all: Ms. Lauryn Hill and her badass pipes. We’re sure Shonda and company can find a way to work this into a serial drama, right?
